The main role is played by one of the closest friends of V, Choi Woo Shik (최우식). The song could be heard for the first time on December 6, 2021, with the airing of the first episode on SBS TV. V was actively involved in the creation of the song, also when it came to choosing the right instruments to match the specific sound he had in mind. During the interview with Rolling Stones, V mentioned that the song started out from him feeling that he “really wanted a good night’s sleep.” Originally, it was supposed to land on V’s mixtape, but he decided to release it as a part of OST to Itaewon Class. It happened thanks to his long friendship with Park Seo Joon—the leading actor in the series.

I think this song is based on V s character in the HYYH ( BTS universe) where Taehyung’s father is abusive towards him and his sister after their mom died. one day he comes home to find his dad abusing his sister and ends up killing him trying to save her. The song talks about the burden he felt all the time he suffered from his father ,the feelings that he hid from everyone while he was being abused (maybe he tried to “play it cool” and not show his friends and sister the hardship he is in) and he feels sorry towards his sister,father and friends for different reasons. He now sees himself as a sinner and blames himself for his sister’s pain(because he was not strong enough to protect her only because he couldn’t stand up to his father ) and therefore he wants to erase his sins but he cant do that and now he just asks for forgiveness. However, some people have stated that it could be something relating to sexuality. (Not in storyline, rather a personal story, considering he wrote the song lyrics himself.) But that is just a theory, because V of BTS has not spoken about it since the release of the song.

In a press release held by Big Hit (BTS' label), various news sources reported that Big Hit said this song was V writing to and reflecting on his past struggles and younger self.

This represents his wishes for her to rest in peace, but it also subtly hints that he wishes for her to return one day. Incidentally, the track marks 1000 days of the phrase “I purple you.“ The unofficial color of ARMY, he defines purple as representing trust and long-lasting love since it comes at the end of the rainbow.
